From Wallan
to the big stage.
- The beginning
A kid with a camera
Growing up in Wallan, Victoria, I picked up my first camera at five. Photography turned into video, video turned into DJing and radio, and before long I was building my own stages because there weren't many around.
- Finding the mic
Radio, live mic nights and big interviews
I started interviewing everyone I could, from Peter Hitchener and Moira Kelly to Miguel Maestre, and brought live mic nights back to Wallan so local artists had somewhere to play.
- Age 19
A seat at the table
At 19 I was appointed to a board of directors. I learned early that the people who build the platform get to decide who's on it.
- Building community
BGCommunity
I created BGCommunity, which gave more than a thousand creators a place to perform. It taught me what I love most: watching someone get discovered.
- On screen
Couch Sessions and Coming Together Christmas
When the world moved online, I took the stage with it: live-streamed music series, then presenting and creative directing Coming Together Christmas, which earned six Antenna Award nominations.
- 2024 to now
Futuration
I founded Futuration, a showcase of the future of Australian music and dance. The debut sold out, then we took it to The Palms at Crown and The Timber Yard.
- Today
The host and the builder
I host carols for 10,000 people, Movie World's Fright Nights, red carpets and gala dinners, and I run BG Creative and The Creative Hub, so every event becomes content that lives on.
